OEM
Original Equipment Manufacturing means the buyer owns the design language and usually the tech pack: measurements, BOM, artwork, labels. The factory executes. This is the model for established sportswear brands and clubs that already have a kit bible.
ODM
Original Design Manufacturing means the factory helps develop the product from a brief — fit libraries, fabric suggestions, artwork development. Clubs without a designer and new private-label brands often start here, then lock a spec for reorders (which then behaves more like OEM).
Which one should you request?
If you can attach a measurement chart and print-ready files, say OEM. If you have a logo and a Pinterest folder, say ODM. Mixing the words in an email wastes a week.
