What “custom sublimated” actually means
Sublimation is a dye process used on polyester performance fabrics. The design is printed onto transfer paper, then heat-pressed so the dye becomes part of the fiber. For team uniforms this matters because names, numbers, crests and full-pattern graphics can live in the same garment without a stack of separate screen setups.
It is not the same as vinyl heat-transfer lettering or embroidery. Those methods sit on the surface. Sublimation is chosen when the kit needs all-over color, gradients, or complex sponsor layouts.
What to send with the first enquiry
A usable quote depends on a complete brief. Include:
- Sport and garment list (jersey, shorts, socks, warm-up, etc.)
- Quantity per style and per size if known
- Artwork or clear photo references
- Logo files (vector preferred)
- Whether player names and numbers are required
- Target delivery window and destination country
- Any fabric preference (mesh, interlock, GSM)
Design, colors and branding
Most delays happen in artwork, not cutting. Provide CMYK Color Book codes where color matching matters, and a placement map for sponsors. If you only have a sketch, say so — that is an ODM brief, not an OEM tech pack.
Player application should be planned as a roster: size, name, number. Changing names after printing is not a simple reprint on sublimated panels.
Sampling and bulk
Ask for a sample path in the quotation: proto sample, size set, or salesman sample. Approve fabric, color and construction before bulk. Quality checks and packing instructions belong in the same conversation as unit price.
