Start from the decoration method
If the kit is full-color sublimated, you need a polyester (or very high polyester) fabric. That single rule eliminates most cotton jersey conversations for match kits.
GSM is a specification, not a boast
Grams per square meter describe weight. A light match jersey and a training hoodie should not share a GSM. Ask the manufacturer to propose a GSM for the garment and sport, then approve it on a sample. Publishing a fake “best GSM” for all sportswear is not useful.
Common constructions
Name the sport in the RFQ so fabric proposals are not generic.
- Interlock or bird-eye knits for many football/soccer jerseys
- Mesh for ventilation zones or basketball
- Heavier knits for rugby depending on level of play
- Stretch mixes where mobility is the priority (volleyball, training)
